Stories On Firecracker Paper

A collection of short (and not-so-short) stories inspired by childhood memories.

Warp Speed to Who Knows Where

This blog was created as a way to publicly share my short stories.  However, I have found that my need and ability to create these pieces waxes and wanes so often that it leads to inconsistent uploads.  After reading a rather inspirational piece by my good friend Joe Budlovsky, I have decided to rebrand Stories on Firecracker Paper to include the trials and tribulations of attempting to be a Game Designer.  Now, I’m not too sure what, exactly, this means yet, but I hope it will include the daily successes and failures of trying to work in a creative industry.

The name “Stories on Firecracker Paper” was spawned from a Blind Pilot lyric.  I have long been obsessed with the idea of “disposable art”, be that works made from sand, ice, chalk, flowers, food, flash-mobs, etc.  I fell in love with the idea that these pieces, while witnessed in person, were stored in memory.  It’s almost as if the art becomes legend just because it’s not around anymore for anyone to dispute the quality.  Personally, I find that great.  Imagine if everyone was only allowed to watch Transformers 2 once.  It probably wouldn’t be considered that bad.  While putting things for all to see on the internets is often considered permanent, the idea of putting honest effort into something that could be washed away by rain is what sparked me to call this blog what it is.

While I have no idea where this will go, I can assure you that it will be a genuine and honest (and, hopefully, entertaining) telling of my journey into Art.

More to come soon.
